Young Rovers fan Adelaide Bell is in for a birthday treat on Good Friday when she walks out with her heroes.
Adelaide, who turned 12 on Wednesday, got a surprise after school when John Marquis turned up at her house to wish her a happy birthday, give her a signed shirt and invite her to be mascot for the Good Friday game at Blackpool.
Dad Lynden said: “It was fantastic of John to come and do this, it just shows what a club Rovers are that they want to give something back to supporters.
“It was a real shock for Adelaide. John is her favourite player and he gave her his shirt after the Rotherham game when he came over to fans at the end - she slept in it that night and it took two weeks for us to get it off her to wash!”
Adelaide said: “I couldn’t believe it when I opened my eyes and it was John, I thought my family were going to splat me with cake or something.
“I’m nervous and excited to be mascot at the game, and get to meet all the players. This was the best birthday ever.”
