Tommy Rowe felt that Rovers’ hard work in recent weeks helped them to all three points at Blackpool on Good Friday.
Rowe scored both goals in the 2-1 victory at Bloomfield Road, and the midfielder was pleased with the overall team performance.
“It was a great performance from everyone, especially in the first half, we were really bright and took the game to them, it’s not the easiest pitch to play on but we stuck to the game plan and we’ve got the result we wanted,” he said.
“We did better throughout the game, the start to the second half was poor and we knew we needed to be better, but we weathered the storm really well overall.
“We kept our shape well and we were a good unit together, it’s been a long time since we last played and we’ve had to work hard on the training pitch to be ready for it.”
The 28-year-old grabbed a goal either side of the break, and the midfielder was delighted to see his efforts rewarded.
“We’ve been encouraged to take more shots and with the first one, it’s got the little nick on the way through off the defender’s knee and gone in, we got that bit of luck to loop over the keeper and that’s just what you need to take into the break,” Rowe added.
“We spend a lot of time on these free kick situations the day before the game and we’ve got together and it’s worked out for us, we keep trying because it doesn’t always come off, but we’ve got that bit of luck to get the winner here.
“I haven’t scored for a while, so it was good to get it off my back, hopefully that’ll continue now, I like playing against Blackpool clearly, I’ve scored a few against them in the past and not got the right result but it has paid off and we’ve seen it out.”
