Stancliffe pleased with U18s progress

17 March 2018

Paul Stancliffe does not want his U18 side to rest on their laurels after demolishing Lincoln CIty’s youth team.

Stancliffe was impressed with the performance in the 5-1 win over the young Imps, and is keen for his side to finish the season strongly.

He said: “It was a positive performance and result all round, they did exactly what we asked of them.
“In the last few games we’ve had a lot of good play, good possession and from a coach’s point of view we’ve been saying we haven’t had enough shots on goal. When we’ve looked back at our stats from games we’ve had more possession than the opposition, but we’ve not really got enough rewards.”

Recent adverse weather has meant the side have had limited action in recent weeks, and Stancliffe praised his side’s focus despite the break.

He added “It’s not always easy with the weather but it isn’t just us who has been affected.

“You have to monitor the training during the conditions we’ve faced over last few weeks, but the lads have been brilliant and that’s what you have sports scientists for these days.”

The visit of Bradford City on Monday March 19 is now the only home game for Rovers in March. Tickets are available via the Club Doncaster Box Office. Buy yours now either in store, by calling on 01302 762576, or going online to tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
