Williams makes winning return

14 March 2018

Striker Andy Williams was pleased to make a winning return in a Rovers shirt.

The 31-year-old played 75 minutes in the Development side’s 1-0 win against Walsall, and Williams says it was nice to blow away the cobwebs.

“I felt a little bit rusty at times throughout the game, but these games are designed to get rid of the cobwebs and it was nice to get a run out,” he said.

“I came close to scoring a few and you always want to score on your first game back, but it wasn’t to be.

“These games can only be a good thing for me, you can take things from these games that you sometimes can’t from a training session.”

Williams came close to adding his name to the scoresheet on two occasions, hitting the crossbar and the post respectively, but he says it’s all about getting the victory.

“The first-half I think we played the ball around really well, we have a set of very good young players here,” he added.

“We had a good side out and on another day we could have scored more than one, but it’s all about getting the result.

“It was nice to get some time under my belt and it would have been nice to have hit the back of the net, but on another day they drop in for you.”

Rovers’ Season Memberships for 2018/19 are on sale from March 20 2018, with great rewards such as Xbox One S consoles, virtual reality headsets and smart TV boxsets for the first 500 fans who pay in full for their Season Membership. There is also a daily prize draw which runs for the duration of the early bird window, from March 20 until April 13, with unique prizes up for grabs for those who have committed to following Rovers at all home games (for Season Memberships bought either in full or via direct debit).
