Butler feeling better than ever

6 May 2018

Andy Butler says he is feeling better than ever as he reflects on his fourth season with the club.

Despite an injury after the turn of the year, Butler was a consistent performer throughout the season, and was named as the Sheffield Star Doncaster Rovers player of the year, much to the defender’s surprise.

“I’m still quite surprised now really, there are other players who have performed very well this season, James Coppinger, John Marquis and Joe Wright are ones that you’d look at, they’re all up there but I was delighted to win it, I’m not going to complain,” he said.

“I go about my work every day like I have done for the last however many years it’s been, and since I’ve been here too, I still feel as fit as I have done, and long may it continue for me, I want to keep going into next season where we can all kick on.

“I think with a few additions within the team and keeping the majority of the squad too with the young talent there is then I feel we can do well, there’s a lot of young players who have had their first taste of League One football and that experience will set them up nicely.”
