Andy Butler has praised his teammate James Coppinger, after it was announced that the Rovers midfielder would be entering his 15th season with the club.
Coppinger joined Rovers back in 2004, and Butler highlighted his importance around the club.
“He’s is a massive part of club as a whole, he has played a major role over the last couple of seasons, he’s getting older and I’m glad he's going to be here a bit longer because then I'm not the oldest at the club,” he said.
“Since I’ve been at the club he’s been incredible, the position the gaffer has him playing in now really suits him, he finds positions on the pitch that no-one else can, it is so hard to defend against in training as it seems as he is always one or two steps ahead.
“Copps is an integral part of the team really, not just on the field but off it as well, he is Doncaster Rovers, he’s keen to keep playing even at the age of 37, the record he set for appearances won’t ever be passed, he’s a once in a lifetime player.”
