Blood pressure checks for Rovers fans

10 May 2018

55 football fans had their blood pressure checked on Saturday at the Keepmoat Stadium free of charge.

The checks were courtesy of volunteers from the Rotary Club and allowed fans to have the vital check before they watched Rovers’ final Sky Bet League One of the 2017/18 campaign against Wigan Athletic.

High blood pressure contributes to over 50% of strokes but often has no symptoms and can affect anyone at any age.

Head of Club Doncaster Foundation John Davis said: "We were delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to fans before Saturday’s game and it was fantastic to see so many people take part.

“I want to thank the fantastic volunteers of the Rotary Club for giving up their time to deliver this provision, which to some could be invaluable."

May is stroke awareness month, which sees communities come together to raise money and awareness to help support those who have been affected.

The community are also encouraged to wear purple for the month, and host bake sales or fun fairs to help raise vital funds for all those whose lives have been devastated by stroke.
