Introducing Max Watters

24 May 2018

Rovers announced the signing of young forward Max Watters earlier in the week and here is all you need to know about the latest addition to the squad.

Watters signed a two-year deal following his move from Ashford United, and he joined Alfie May in making the move up from step eight of the English football pyramid to the Keepmoat Stadium.

The 19-year-old joined the club following an impressive spell with the Nuts and Bolts, where he scored eight goals in 27 appearances, operating across midfield and up front.

His most notable game for Ashford came in December’s 4-1 victory over Thamesmead in the Bostik League South Division, with Watters scoring a hat-trick and setting up the other.

Other notable performances came against Herne Bay and Chipstead, scoring three times in those two games.

Watters has also had spells with Thurrock and Barking, and has represented England Schoolboys on a number of occasions, with impressive performances on the international stage.

The forward was part of the England squad that went on to be joint winners of the Under 18 Centenary Shield, playing a key role, scoring twice and collecting two assists on the way to victory in the Home Nations tournament.
