Alfie May was pleased to end a frustrating season back in the side, as he reflected on his first full season as a professional footballer.
May started off the season strongly, before an injury he picked up at Charlton in October saw his progress suffer a setback, however despite this, May worked hard to bounce back from his time out, and he is ready to push on once again next season.
“When you get called upon you’re buzzing and you hope that you have a good game, I’ve fought really hard to get my shirt back, we had so many games in such a short space of time, and the gaffer needed to freshen things up and I came in,” he said.
“The injury set me back a lot this season, I was out for nine weeks and I’ve never had an injury before so when they said how long it was I was gutted, coming back it still hurt a bit but everyone gets injured and it has to go to the back of your mind.
“It’s always nice to get onto the scoresheet, as a striker you’re paid to score goals, I wanted to come back in to the side and do well, but hopefully I’ve shown the gaffer what I can do and that will stand me in good stead for next season.”
