Quartet offered professional deals

5 May 2018

Rovers have offered professional deals to youth team players Cody Prior, Morgan James, Jacob Fletcher and James Morris.

The quartet will be paraded around the pitch at half-time of the game against Wigan Athletic at the Keepmoat Stadium this weekend.

They follow in the footsteps of Danny Amos, who signed professional terms earlier in the season, and mean five of the club's second-year scholars progress to the senior ranks.

Head of academy Kieran Scarff said: "They continue to show the potential we are looking for and have a great opportunity to develop. They deserve huge praise for their efforts but they also know that there is a lot of hard work ahead of them.

"The awarding of these contracts is another example of the support and commitment being shown by the owners, the chief executive and the manager to develop our own players."

Youth scholarships have been offered to Jack Watson, Lirak Hassani, Ben Blythe, Josh Wicks, Will McGowan, Martijn Smith and Elliott Walker for next season.

Scarff added: "This season has been a very productive one with highlights including six first-team debuts, two EFL debuts and an international debut.

"These successes are the result of being fortunate enough to have an excellent team of staff who support the players in an outstanding way."
