Andy Butler says Rovers won't be taking non-league side Chorley lightly when the two sides meet in the Emirates FA Cup on Sunday.

Rovers travel across the Pennines to face the National League North leaders at Victory Park, and Butler says they will be aiming to make sure they are not on the end of a cup upset against the Magpies.

"We're treating it like we would any other game really, it's a great competition for lower league clubs to get involved with, but we're treating it the same as we would with any league game and we're looking to get back to winning ways," he said.

"We're expecting there to be a big crowd in because that's what games like these usually do, fans of teams like Chorley will always be looking for a cup upset, we just have to make sure we aren't on the end of one ourselves.

"If you don't perform you don't win the game it's as simple as that, it's up to us to get ready and perform, we're going over there with every intention to see them off and put our name into the hat for the second round."

Last year saw Rovers draw non-league opposition in Ebbsfleet United at the same stage, coming from two goals down to win 6-2 away in Kent, and Butler says Rovers will be looking to start on the front foot in order to avoid such a scare on Sunday.

"We'll be drawing on our experience against Ebbsfleet last season, obviously we went behind and managed to come back and get the result, we'll have to make sure there are no slip ups from us, because in this competition anyone can beat anyone," he added.

"We've been doing our research, we've been looking at their strengths and their weaknesses, we just have to do our job right and play as well as we know that we can do, Chorley are a strong side with a lot of experienced players in the team.

"I've had a few highlights in the FA Cup in the past, we had a trip to Chelsea when I was at Scunthorpe a few years back, but you always want to go as far as you can because it is such a special competition and you have to cherish every game as it comes."
