Shaun Cummings is happy to be back in football after agreeing a two-month contract with Rovers.

The 29-year-old played 45 minutes against Notts County on Wednesday night, and is hoping he can impress enough to earn an extended stay at the club.

He said: “It was a frustrating time while I was looking for a club, but I wanted to wait for the right move for me.

“I’ve been in and around the place for a couple of weeks and managed to get some game time in a development match against Sheffield United.

“It’s good to have found somewhere, it’s a club that is going places and there is a really good group of lads here.”

Cummings has won promotion from Sky Bet League One in each of the past two seasons, and is hoping that experience can benefit Rovers.

He added: “I’ve got good experience at this level and I’ve been fortunate to get a few promotions in my career.

“I’d like to think I can help the squad here and the manager knows that I’ve been in successful sides at this level before.

“My aim is to do well when I’m called upon, it’s a short-term contract initially but hopefully that can be extended going forward.”
