Young Rovers fan Keira O’Brien enjoyed a surprise visit from Donny Dog to celebrate her ninth birthday recently.
A pupil at Carr Lodge Academy, Keira and her classmates were the lucky first winners of the ongoing Trax FM schools competition. The competition sees Donny Dog join Traxie Bear at the winning school to treat every child to an exclusive Rovers and Trax FM goodie bag which includes two tickets to the next Rovers home fixture.
Keira and her sister Olivia joined the rest of the pupils in a noisy, fun filled assembly to celebrate the win and receive their goodies from Donny and friends.
While the other pupils excitedly booked their seats for the upcoming match, for the O'Briens there was only one thing in their way - and it was something rather important...
The October 20 game with Gillingham clashed with Keira's birthday party which had been organised weeks in advance by mum Deeanne, meaning Keira had a dilemma.
Of course, her own birthday bash won over the six-goal thriller at the Keepmoat Stadium that day, but it still left the sisters missing their new friend Donny Dog, and the chance to visit his Kennel.
Donny's Kennel is in the Club Doncaster Family Stand, and on match days features face painting, football skill games, and a FIFA 19 chill out zone with beanbags and consoles.
When Donny Dog heard that his new friends were missing the match, there was only one thing to do.
Armed with a birthday cake and a family match ticket, a special visit to see Keira at home was planned. Watch how it unfolded on the video above.
Kiera and her family will be joining pupils from St John’s Church of England Academy from Worksop on Saturday as Rovers face AFC Wimbledon in Sky Bet League One.
