John Marquis was pleased with Rovers’ professional performance in the 2-0 victory over Blackpool in Sky Bet League One.

The No.9 doubled the lead after Herbie Kane’s first half stunner, and Marquis believes they were good value for the win.

He said: “I think it was a very professional performance and we got the three points which was the most important thing.

“Blackpool have been on a good run of form and have the most clean sheets in the league, so we knew it was going to be tough.

“It’s our first clean sheet in the league for a while and it’s been a long time coming, our defence and goalkeeper have deserved it for the work they’ve put in.”

The 26-year-old’s goal against the Seasiders took him to 12 in all competitions this season, and he is keen to keep adding to his tally.

He added: “For my goal the ball came across to me, I took a big touch which opened up the angle for me and allowed me to fire it into the far corner.

“I’m very happy, I’ve scored 12 so far which is a decent return considering I haven’t been in great form over the past few games.

“Even when the goals haven’t been coming I’d like to think I bring a lot to the team with my hold up play and my work rate.”
