Grant McCann is looking forward to going up against his old side Barnsley in Sky Bet League One this weekend.

The Rovers manager spent a year at Oakwell in 2007, and says his players are ready for an entertaining South Yorkshire derby.

He said: “All we’re looking for is to go there and get a positive result, we’ve prepared well and we’re looking forward to the game.

“My son was born in Barnsley hospital and I still have my house there which I rent to the football club so it is a club I know well.

“You have to stay calm in a derby game, we did it against Bradford and play the game rather than the occasion.”

Rovers go into the game on the back of wins over AFC Wimbledon and Chorley in league and cup, and McCann says the turn in form is a result of sticking to their principles

He added: “We haven’t changed over the past few weeks and have kept on doing what we believe is right, we’re starting to get a bit of credit for it now.

“We don’t throw plans out the window when we go through a tough patch, we keep doing our stuff and people are buying into that.

“The result at Oakwell won’t define whether or not we’re fully back on track, but a win would help us close the gap on the teams above us.”

Rovers' Half Season Memberships are available now – online at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk, at the Club Doncaster Box Office in person or via telephone 01302 762576.
