Grant McCann wants his squad to stick together as they look to come out of a tough run of results in Sky Bet League One.
First-half goals from Joe Aribo and Karlan Ahearne-Grant gave Charlton Athletic all three points at the Valley on Saturday, and the manager was frustrated with the result.
He said: “We speak a lot about doing the basics right, we have a good group of players but we’re lacking a bit of cleverness at times.
“It’s been a frustrating few weeks in terms of results, but we win together and we lose together and that will always stay the same. We were all delighted when we went on a good run, so now the key is to keep motivating each other to keep improving.”
Rovers are just three points off the play-off places, and McCann is keen for his players to rediscover the belief which gave them a good start to the season.
He added: “We’ve seen all season we have the belief that we’re capable of beating anyone, we know we need to improve to stay at the right end of the table.
“We know how important the first goal is in any game so we’ve got to make sure we score and put ourselves in a good position. The boys need to understand that when we concede the game isn’t over, but we didn’t find the chance or goal that we needed.”
