Grant McCann wants his players to take responsibility as they look to get back to winning ways against Charlton Athletic this weekend.

Rovers are just two points off the play-off places following last weekend’s defeat at Coventry City in Sky Bet League One.

He said: “I think we all have to take responsibility when we lose a game, as the leader of the changing room I will be the first to do that.

“I’m the one who picks the team but ultimately once they cross that white line we want them to show what they’re capable of.

“Football is all about results, we’ve done well from box-to-box but recently have struggled to be ruthless in both areas that matter the most.”

McCann’s side go up against a Charlton team who were beaten in last season’s play-off semi-final, and he has been impressed by the job done by Lee Bowyer.

He added: “They’ve had their problems off the pitch and sometimes that can unite a club a little bit, it was good to see Lee Bowyer given the job permanently.

“It’s another big stadium and a big pitch which I feel can suit us, we want to make sure we do the basics rights.

“We need to make sure everyone does their job, we will give our all to go and get the three points at Charlton.”
