No change for Butler against Barnsley

Andy Butler says his role will not change ahead of a defensive re-shuffle for Rovers at local rivals Barnsley this weekend.

With Joe Wright injured and Tom Anderson suspended, the club captain is the only senior centre-back available to Grant McCann for the game at Oakwell.

He said: “It’s not just a case of relying on the centre-backs, we’ve got players who can fill in and that’s down to the gaffer to decide.

“My job doesn’t change, I just do what I’m good at and help the people who play alongside me in the back four.

“It’s something that we’ve been working on and may be a bit of a re-shuffle but nothing will change too much.”

Rovers are level on points with the play-off places going into the game against Daniel Stendel’s side, and Butler says the players are relishing the occasion.

He added: “I love a local derby, it will be a good crowd and a decent atmosphere with both teams looking to challenge at the top of the table.

“Barnsley are a good side and have done well this season, but so are we and it should make an interesting game.

“We only ever focus on one game at a time but we know we can put a run of good results together by taking points off teams around us.”

Rovers Half Season Memberships are available now – online at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk, at the Club Doncaster Box Office in person or via telephone 01302 762576.
