Safety notice for travelling fans - Barnsley

23 November 2018

Fans travelling to Barnsley for the November 24 fixture are advised that specially trained ‘sniffer dogs’ will be used at Oakwell by South Yorkshire Police to search specifically for pyrotechnics, including smoke bombs, flares and fireworks.

The EFL has relaunched its commitment to tackle the use of pyrotechnics within EFL football grounds.  This was initially launched in November 2017 that saw all 72 clubs sign up to a new club charter on pyrotechnics.

Since the charter was signed, EFL clubs have been taking strong and decisive action against any fans found attempting to bring a banned item into a ground, or those who discharge pyrotechnics.

Fans are further reminded about persistent standing within the ground at Oakwell. Standing at football matches is against ground regulations and also has a negative impact on your fellow supporters, stopping them from seeing the game.
