Danny Amos says it is a dream come true to be called up to the Northern Ireland U21 squad for their upcoming qualification games for the European Championship.

Amos joined up with the squad on Sunday ahead of Thursday's trip to Iceland before returning back to Belfast to face Slovakia.

He said: "It is a dream come true for me really, there are a few lads that were in the U19 squad that have been called up as well, so I am really looking forward to joining up with the squad.

"I am relieved to get a call up again, I was included in the squad a month or so ago but I was injured, so it is pleasing that they have kept an eye out for me.

"I was gutted last time because I wasn't far off coming back from injury when they called me up, but I had to respect the decision of the manager and the physio."

The Academy graduate scored on his debut for the U19 side against Poland in September 2017, and is looking forward to building on his previous performances.

He added: "I just want to go out there and make everyone proud of me, my family, the club, the boys and obviously the coaches who have worked so hard with me to get me where I am now.

"The gaffer has been very complementary, he said I have done everything I can do to earn the call up, and my family are delighted for me too."
