Danny Andrew felt Rovers deserved at least a point after being narrowly beaten by Sunderland at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Chris Maguire’s early second-half goal was enough to give the Black Cats the win, and Andrew believes on another day Rovers could have taken something from the game.

He said: “I thought we were very unlucky to lose the game, we played well and had some good chances to go in front.

“The lads have done well to create chances but we couldn’t take them, that was the difference in the end that they got their goal.

“They will be up there at the end of the season and we’ve been very good against them, but we’ve come up just short.”

A crowd of 11,881 watched the game between two play-off chasing sides, and Andrew says he enjoyed the atmosphere created.

He added: “The fans have been good all season and we’ve given them something to shout about, they’ve stuck by us and it really helps.

“With the way we’ve played over the past two games it’s hard to believe that we’ve only taken one point from a possible six.

“We’ve had enough chances to win both of those games but we couldn’t take them and that has cost us.”
