Cliff Byrne says Rovers are staying grounded as they look to continue their good start to the season.

Rovers are fourth in Sky Bet League One ahead of this weekend’s clash with Gillingham, and Byrne says they are still taking one game at a time.

He said: “We’re pleased with our start but we won’t get carried away, we know that hard work throughout the season brings results at the end of it.

“Without giving too much away we work quite openly, I have an understanding of what the manager wants and he knows what I can bring.

“As a backroom staff we all contribute and working towards our goals, the manager leads things and we’re all very much behind him.”

Byrne joined the club in June as Grant McCann’s assistant, and has enjoyed his first few months in the role.

He added: “I’m really enjoying it, I’ve coached for a few years now and I’ve grown stronger as I continue to learn each season.

“We have some things in place which we stick by and they won’t change for anybody, everything else has to follow that.

“It’s an infectious football club and has a real homely feel to it, all the staff want to do well and that’s good for everyone involved.”

Rovers are back in action on Saturday October 20 when they host Gillingham in Sky Bet League One. Get your tickets now at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
