Midfielder James Coppinger is proud to be a part of this Rovers squad after they got back to winning ways in Sky Bet League One.
Coppinger provided three assists in Rovers’ 3-2 victory over Rochdale at the Crown Oil Arena and he is enjoying his football under Grant McCann.
“It is a massive win for us and it was important that we bounced back after two league defeats, we were back to normal and we backed it up against difficult opposition,” he said.
“When you get to a certain age people are very quick to write you off and, as long as I am enjoying my football and contributing, it is refreshing for me. I love playing football, it is my life, and I want to inspire other people. This group of players is a special group it is amazing to be a part of.”
Jermaine Anderson, Andy Butler and Ali Crawford all hit the back of the net for Rovers in their first league win of October, and Coppinger had a feeling Crawford would score his first goal for the club against the Dale.
“John Marquis is relied heavily on us scoring goals but in recent games those goals have been spread around the team, you saw it today with three different scorers,” he added.
“Matty Blair has scored a few and had a really good opportunity to score as well but it does not matter to a certain extent who scores, as long as were picking up three points.
“I am pleased for Ali Crawford and Jermaine Anderson for getting on the scoresheet, they’ve both had injuries this season and they have come back and impressed, I had a feeling that Ali would score.”
Rovers' next home game at the Keepmoat Stadium is against Gillingham on Saturday October 20. Tickets are available from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
