James Coppinger says Rovers will take the positives from the defeat at Accrington Stanley in Sky Bet League One.

The loss was Rovers’ first in eight league games, and the midfielder believes the squad won’t dwell on it for too long.

He said: “We’re all disappointed, we don’t like losing but I thought we should have come away with at least a point.

“We’ve had four wins on the bounce and you get setbacks along the way, now we need to show a reaction.

“I think we need to understand where we are as a squad, the performance wasn’t a bad one and we created a few chances.”

After a positive start to the season, Coppinger has been impressed with the progress made under manager Grant McCann.

He added: “I’ve said it for the past couple of seasons that we have some really good players, it takes time to develop and this season we’re doing really well.

“A defeat like this is what tests you as a professional footballer, we’ve had a couple of long journeys and now we need to bounce back.

“The way the manager is filters down the players, we won’t hide from our responsibilities and we know we have to get back to winning ways on Saturday.”

Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Fleetwood Town on Saturday October 6, you can purchase tickets from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
