Grant McCann is backing Danny Amos to take his chance with the Northern Ireland U21s in their upcoming qualification games for the European Championship.
Amos joined up with the squad on Sunday ahead of Thursday's trip to Iceland before returning back to Belfast to face Slovakia.
He said: “I’m glad that Danny has been called back up, he was called up the last time but it came too soon for him after his injury, but I’m pleased that he’s managed to get back into the squad again.
“He missed the Spain game which they won and he was due to start in, but he’s got another couple of good games coming up, and the experience will be a great one for him, he was disappointed himself that he couldn’t go but we couldn’t take the risk.
“I’m pleased for him I really am, I played with Ian Baraclough the U21s manager at Scunthorpe and he’ll be good for Danny to work with, and it’s great that he has got that recognition and hopefully we’ll see it for a few more players over time.”
Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday October 20 to take on Gillingham in Sky Bet League One. Tickets are available from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
