Rovers have completed a clean sweep of the Player and Manager of the Month awards for September, with John Marquis and Grant McCann taking the prizes.

Rovers claimed 13 points from five games, with the only match not won being a draw at then league leaders Peterborough United which ended their winning start to the campaign.

There were six goals in five games for Marquis, who is loving life in Rovers' new-look attack, which perfectly suits his mobility and adventure. His goals were easy on the eye, too, the best of which was a deft chip at Peterborough United.

George Burley chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel. He said: "Grant has led Doncaster Rovers to third place in Sky Bet League One with a changed system which produced 13 points scoring 12 goals in the process.

"It was a great run of results in a very productive month while playing attractive football."

Sky Sports' EFL pundit Don Goodman said: "Grant McCann revealed this week that he tells his players not to ask for the ball from a teammate unless they already know what they're going to do with it.

"It's through drumming ideas like this into his players which has allowed them to play with real purpose this season, and as his young squad continue to gain experience with each other, an exciting season is a strong possibility for Donny.''

Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies added: "McCann's Doncaster gained four wins and a draw in September and propelled themselves to third in Sky Bet League One.

"They were unlikely promotion candidates at the start of the season with double figures prices readily available but Rovers are now into 3/1 and Sky Bet will be keeping them onside."
