John Marquis says it will be a proud moment if he makes his 100th league appearance for Rovers this weekend.

The No.9 has taken just over two seasons to reach the landmark, and says his goal record in that time is pleasing.

He said: “Scoring goals is a striker’s main job, but I feel like I still bring a lot more to the team than just my goals.

“To have the good scoring record since I’ve been here is nice, playing the amount of games I have is something I’m very proud of.

“I’ve not missed a game through injury and I look after myself, I can’t remember too many where I’ve come off for longer than five minutes.”

With six league goals already this season, Marquis says he is always challenging himself to keep improving.

He added: “I’ve always been very ambitious, I’ve played in the Championship before and probably wasn’t ready for it back then.

“I feel like now I would thrive opportunity of playing at that level, and the ideal thing for me would be to get there with Doncaster.

“I want to keep getting better and I always want to try and do more, it’s always been my mentality that if I keep learning then it will help me as a person and as a player.”

Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Fleetwood Town on Saturday October 6. Tickets are available from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
