John Marquis is relishing the attacking system put in place by manager Grant McCann after his double helped Rovers beat Plymouth Argyle 3-2 in Sky Bet League One.

The No.9 scored either side of Matty Blair's second-half strike to lift Rovers into third place in the table, taking his tally to the club to 50 strikes in all competitions, and he is enjoying being part of a winning side.

He said: "I'm doing well, I've said before that it's a role that I'm relishing and the manager wants me to keep making runs to stretch the defence.

"I have to keep believing that I'm going to get the ball when I make the runs, the manager breathes confidence into the whole squad. We can be proud of the result, it's another game where we've won by one goal but it could have been more."

The win at Home Park was Rovers' fourth in a row in the league, and Marquis believes the squad are showing what they're capable of ahead of a trip to Accrington Stanley on Tuesday.

He added: "We're 10 games in and in a few games time we will be a quarter of the way through the season, we don't want opportunities to pass us by.

"We go into every game to win it, we're not getting carried away but four wins in a row is a good achievement and we want to keep building.

"We've got two games coming up now and will have to recover quickly before facing Accrington, but we go into it full of belief."

Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Fleetwood Town on Saturday October 6, you can purchase tickets from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
