Paul Stancliffe was thrilled with the performance of this team after they extended their unbeaten run to 14 games.
Rovers' U18s were held to a goalless draw by Chesterfield at Cantley Park, but Stancliffe was pleased after his side controlled the majority of the match.
He said: "At times we were very good and all that was missing was the goal. As far as performances go, and I've told the lads this, I'm absolutely delighted with them.
"We didn't have to defend a lot, but when we did the lads stood up to do their jobs and that's what is pleasing – not just the back four but everyone."
U16s goalkeeper Tom Easen made his debut for the side, filling in for the injured Declan Ogley, while new signing Hamaz Mohammad had a lively debut in front of goal.
Stancliffe added: "Tom did very well – he was very confident and he was brave at the end when he was called upon, his distribution was good. I was pleased for Tom as he's been in training with us throughout the summer and we've seen what he was like then and he's put everything into it – he deserves his clean sheet.
"Hamaz has got good ability and good feet, he's trained with us for two or three weeks and he's probably just a bit short on match fitness at the moment."
