Rovers’ U18s side will host Scunthorpe United on Saturday as they return to action in the EFL North East Youth Division.
The young Rovers have plenty of motivation as they head to North Lincolnshire after suffering their first defeat of the season last weekend.
The 4-3 EFL Youth Alliance Cup loss to Lincoln City ended a 14-game unbeaten run, and coach Paul Stancliffe expects a reaction as they look to maintain their run without loss in the league.
He said: “We need a reaction. They’re all tough games this season and Scunthorpe is no different.
“If we don’t do it right and don’t play the way were capable with good energy and tempo with and without the ball then it’s going to be difficult in any game.”
Goalkeeper Declan Ogley is closing in on a possible return after suffering a hand injury while training with the first-team players.
