Wright looking to maintain momentum

Joe Wright says the side are eager to maintain momentum when they host Bradford City in Sky Bet League One on Saturday.

Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium in search of their third win in a row in the league, and Wright says morale is high around the squad heading into the weekend’s game.

“We’re all feeling good especially after getting the win last weekend, the morale around the camp is great at the minute, so we’re all looking forward to getting back out there and playing at home on Saturday,” he said.

“We’ve played well in most games this season I think, but we were ruthless up the top end of the pitch against Walsall, so we will be looking to do the same this weekend against Bradford, whilst making sure we do our job at the back too

“It’s all about belief really, we have to make sure we believe in ourselves which I think we do, there’s definitely more to come from us, we’re still learning every day on the training ground and we want to take that into games.”

Wright has been a virtual ever-present across the back line in the early stage of the season, missing just one game in League One so far, and he believes that whilst the start to the campaign has been good, there is still more to come from the side.

“It’s still a new system we’re getting to grips with and I think a few people are still forgetting that, but we’ve adapted well so far this season and I think a lot of progression will be made as the season goes on,” he added.

“For us as a defence, it’s all about building up a relationship across the back four, as well as across the midfield too, the good thing for us too is that there’s a lot of strength in depth and there’s others that can come in and do a good job too.

“As a team, it’s all about understanding the way everyone of us plays both on and off the ball, but I think we’ve grown really well into the style the gaffer wants us to play and that is starting to show in the results.”
