Manager Grant McCann says his side are aware of the dangers Bradford City possess ahead of Saturday’s trip to West Yorkshire in Sky Bet League One.
Rovers face the division’s bottom side at the weekend looking to build on back-to-back home wins, and McCann says his players know what they are up against with the Bantams battling to retain their third-tier status.
“We know it’s always a tough game at Valley Parade, every time I’ve ever been there it has always been difficult, they have a big fan base and they’re fighting for their lives at the minute, and so we know what they’re up against,” he said.
“Bradford have got plenty of dangerous players in their squad that can hurt you in a split second if you’re not switched on, but again, we’ll go into the game just worrying about us and making sure we get our performance right.
“Gary Bowyer has gone in there now and I think he will bring a bit of sustainability to the club, he’s a good manager and did very well at Blackpool, his teams are always well organised and well drilled and tough to play against so know we need to be up for it.”
Rovers head to Valley Parade going in search of a first away win in the league since December, and McCann knows that in order to gain momentum in their play-off push, his side need to be better on their travels.
“We’ll be looking to take what we have done from the last two homes games into the weekend, if we don’t then we could come unstuck, we have plenty of ways to get at them we just have to make sure we find the right one,” he added.
“We know we need to better on the road then we have been lately, we haven’t been great and the last time we won away in the league was at the end of December, the players know how I feel about that, we’ve spoken about that, and we have to make sure we perform.
“We have to be very good to win, we know that, we’ve lost nine away from home this season, compared to just the two at home and that speaks for itself which is disappointing for me, it needs to change in these next few games and that’s our focus.”
