Manager Grant McCann says a family ethic is in the club’s DNA after Rovers scooped the EFL’s Family Club of the Year award.

Rovers were crowned Family Club of the Year at the annual EFL Awards held at London’s Grosvenor House. The award was the culmination of years of hard work off the field to make  Rovers a fantastic day out for all the family. The club was also praised for putting families at the centre of everything they do with every staff member, steward, and  player buying into that ethos.

“It was a good night for the football club,” said McCann

“The club have won Family Club of the Year, Matty Blair won League One Community Player of the Year, and we had Herbie Kane and John Marquis in the Team of the Year, it’s amazing really. We had a lot the support team from behind the scenes at the awards night and they drive this kind of thing at the club. It was great for us as a club to win that award.

“Everyone at the football club should take a huge amount of credit for it and be proud of the achievement. I’ve witnessed what they do on a matchday and it’s amazing.

“I’ve touched on this before, but I think the players are unbelievable here too. Anything they’re asked to do in the community or for the fans, anything that needs to be done, they’re there. It’s never a no or a maybe, it’s a straight yes but that’s part of the club’s DNA.”
