Boss McCann expects a battle against Accrington Stanley

Grant McCann is confident Rovers can quickly get back to winning ways on Tuesday night, but knows Accrington Stanley will not roll over at the Keepmoat Stadium.

While Rovers need three points to stay in that coveted sixth place, Stanley are not completely clear of the drop zone with teams as high as 13th in Sky Bet League One still not safe.

"After a disappointing result at Sunderland, we have to respond and I'm sure the boys will be firmly focused on that," McCann said.

"Accrington Stanley have got good players. They've got good pace in attack and they can hurt anyone. I watched them at Sunderland earlier in the season and they can hurt anyone. We've got to guard against that, but we also need to make sure we take care of our business and get our game plan right.

"Our game at their place was a long time ago, we're a different animal now. We've proved for most of the season that we can perform at a consistent level and Tuesday's match gives us a chance to bounce back from defeat at Sunderland."

McCann believes the match will be tricky and hopes that the extra day's rest his side have - Accrington faced Luton on Saturday, while Rovers played at Sunderland the day before - might give his side a small advantage.

"It will be a tricky game because they will know they're not safe, they still need points to stay clear of relegation, but that could suit us. We have to focus on ourselves like we always do because, if we take care of our business, we don't have to worry about anyone else," he added.

"The extra day obviously gives our players that bit more rest between games, but professional footballers are fit and they're ready to go Saturday then Tuesday when needed."
