Manager Grant McCann says everybody must stick together to get over the line in the race for the Sky Bet League One play-offs.

Rovers sit in sixth place in the table in the final play-off spot, and McCann believes his side have a great opportunity to create something special this season.

“At this stage of the season, it’s all about everybody sticking together, we all want to achieve something this season and we all want to do that together, the boys are great and they’re really looking forward to the weekend,” he said.

“We’ve addressed a few of the issues from the past couple games and we’re looking to put them right, you just have to look forward to the next game, you have to train like this group has all season with a real sharpness and intensity because you are what you do during the week.

“The boys have been a tremendous group to work with, I’ve said it before, if anybody had said to me that we’d be in the position we are with two games to go I would have took it, even though my standards are a lot higher, but it’s a great opportunity for us.”

Rovers travel south this weekend to face an in-form Oxford United side who won both games over the Easter weekend, and with just two games left of the regular season, McCann is relishing what is to come in the run-in.

“We’re relishing everything that comes our way, we’re going to embrace it, we’re going to enjoy it, then if we get there that’s great, we’ve had a good season, we’re looking forward to seeing what we can do and what we can achieve,” he added.

“We’re looking to win our final two games because then that takes off the pressure and any seed of doubt away from anyone, the focus first and foremost is to try and win at Oxford and then the Coventry game will take care of itself.

“It’s an exciting time to be a part of it, everyone should be excited and looking forward to these games, I know I am, I’d loved to be involved as a player, I have been before, it’s the final push now and we want to get the job done.”
