Stockbridge took charge of his first EFL match in August 2013 a 3-1 home victory for Fleetwood Town over Dagenham & Redbridge in Sky Bet League Two. He took charge of his first League One match just six weeks later, and his first Championship match in January of the same season.

The official from Tyne, first oversaw a Rovers match in October 2014, a match which saw Rovers beat local rivals Scunthorpe United 2-1 at Glanford Park. He most recently officiated Rovers' 2-0 home victory over Blackpool in November 2018.

Stockbridge has taken charge of 33 matches in the current campaign, awarding 102 yellow cards and three reds.
