Rovers have again achieved the EFL Family Excellence Gold Award - one of only three clubs to receive the award every years since its inception and one of seven who have won the highest Gold Award in each year since it was introduced.

This achievement has highlighted Rovers long-standing commitment to leading the way for families and fan engagement across the EFL which culminated in the club winning Family Club of the Year at the 2019 EFL Awards.

Among the number of matchday family activities Rovers have been praised for are Donny Dog, Donny Dog’s Kennel, the commitment to creating moments of magic for young fans, family open days, and a committed approach to creating communication just for young fans such as the Rovers family website, Donny Kicks, and DDTV.

Chief executive Gavin Baldwin said: “This is testament to the incredible level of hard work put in by our staff, both on matchdays and in the days leading up to the game to ensure everything runs smoothly.

“We are in a very elite group of clubs who have achieved this award year-on-year and that is something our staff, stewards, team and everyone associated with the club can be very proud of.

“Rovers have become synonymous with family excellent and this is something our staff will continue to prioritise going forward so we can ensure we stay at the forefront of family excellence in the EFL.”

EFL clubs receive two mystery family visits throughout the season, with the feedback and reports determining whether each respective club would achieve Family Excellence status.

EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey said: “It has been fantastic to see the continued dedication and improvement made by EFL Clubs in offering engaging matchday experiences for families. More clubs than ever before are being recognised for offering true family value and a consistently high level of service and innovation, with the EFL’s long-running Family Excellence scheme helping to produce positive and impactful change across the league, while driving a real focus on the overall matchday experience.

“I would like to congratulate the clubs that have achieved Family Excellence status and those that have been awarded gold status this year. We look forward to continuing our work with clubs to help drive change, and support the continued effort to attract and retain future generations of supporters.”
