Ben Whiteman believes Rovers will be get a reaction when they face Oxford United in Sky Bet League One on Saturday.

Whiteman made his return from injury in the two games over the Easter weekend, and the midfielder says he hopes his reintroduction into the side can help influence things against the U’s at the Kassam Stadium.

“It’s all about looking to try and bounce back, I’ve missed a little part of the season and we’ve had a decent bit of form of late on the whole. I’m looking forward now to getting back into the side and helping us really push on and get the job done,” he said.

“We have to react to results over the weekend, we have to win these last two games, we’re looking to go to Oxford and put in a good performance in order to get the three points that we need.

“We have to try and draw on positives and in both games we reacted well in the second half to the bad starts we’d had in the first, we know we’ll have to be up for it because they’ll provide another tough test.”

Saturday’s trip to Oxford is Rovers’ penultimate game of the regular season, and Whiteman wants the side to continue to prove the doubters wrong and stay in the play-off places at the end of the campaign.

“Every game is going to be a tough one towards the back end of the season, teams have obviously got their own targets, and we want to go down there and hopefully get the three points,” he added.

“We go into every game wanting to win, obviously things haven’t gone our way in the past two games but now this is the time to put things right and get back on the board with a win, we’re all in it together and that’s the main thing.

“No one outside of the football club probably expected us to do as well as we have this season, hopefully we can prove them all wrong and finish the job off, we just have to keep things in perspective and react well.”

It is your last chance to back Rovers at home in the league. Get behind the team for the final time in the play-off push when we host Coventry City on Saturday May 4. Tickets available from the Club Doncaster Box Office, online here (tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk) or by calling 01302 762 576.
