Matty Blair says the Rovers squad are focused on getting the 2019/20 Sky Bet League One campaign off to a winning start this weekend.
Gillingham are the visitors to the Keepmoat Stadium on the opening day, and the midfielder says a lot of preparation has gone into getting the job done.
He said: “I’ve played against Steve Evans and his teams before and we know we have to match their physicality.
“It’s important to get off to a winning start, we’ve got a game-plan and I’m sure we’ve got the quality to go and get the victory.
“We will do our research and analysis on Gillingham, we’ve got an understanding and idea of how they will play.”
With the game also set to be Darren Moore’s first in charge of the club competitively, Blair believes he has inherited a group of players hungry to improve.
He added: “Even throughout the summer when we were without a manager, the fitness coaches put so much effort in and everyone really pulled together.
“Once Darren Moore came in I think he had a group of players ready to go and there was no case of playing catch-up.”
