Ian Lawlor believes Rovers’ hard work paid off in the 3-2 victory over Fleetwood Town in Sky Bet League One.
A late Wes Burns own-goal gave Darren Moore’s side their first league win of the season, and Lawlor says the overall performance showed the quality in the side.
He said: “We did well to get the three points and our first win of the season, we limited them to a couple of chances which was pleasing.
“It’s always disappointing to concede as a defensive unit, I managed to make a couple of saves but they reacted first to the rebound on both occasions.
“We’ve got another game coming up quickly and it’s a different type of test at Bolton, we will probably go there as favourites, but we have to focus on getting the job done.”
Having missed the second half of last season with a shoulder injury, the 24-year-old is pleased to be back playing regularly.
He added: “It’s nice to be back out on the pitch and playing every week, I want to continue that and play as much as I can this season.
“Any long-term injury gives you dark times, but I stayed in and around the lads and was working hard every day to come back stronger.”
Rovers are back home on Saturday August 24 with an early kick-off vs high-flying Lincoln City. Tickets can be purchased from the Club Doncaster Box Office, or online at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
