Henshall joins as talent identification manager

9 December 2019

Rovers’ talent identification manager Adam Henshall is looking forward to getting stuck into his new role after joining Darren Moore’s backroom staff.

Adam, who joins Rovers from Shrewsbury Town, will oversee the club’s recruitment strategy at all levels from the first-team down. He joined the club at the start of December.

He said: “My role is to help the manager identify what he is going to need to add to the team, both immediately and in the future. It is about speaking to agents, loan managers and head coaches to identify and recruit talent to help the team.

“I like to be data-informed, it will tell you everything you need to know about a player but from there you have to use that information to inform your decision making as to whether they fit in with Rovers and our style of play.

Adam spent more than five years at the Shrews after graduating from Loughborough University, starting out in performance analysis before moving into recruitment.

He added: “I used to play as a kid and was at the Stoke City Academy until I was 16. In my final year at Loughborough I did an internship with Leicester City’s Academy as a performance analyst. I had a number of roles there, moving from analysis into recruitment.

“I know Darren from my previous role. We had Tyler Roberts on loan at Shrewsbury from West Brom, which is where I first made the connection and I’m delighted to be working with him again.”
