Moore pleased with minutes for fringe players

5 December 2019

Darren Moore felt some of his players got some much needed game-time in the Leasing.com Trophy tie against Leicester City U21s.

Shane Blaney, Danny Amos and AJ Greaves all featured at the Keepmoat Stadium, and Moore says they will benefit from it.

He said: “We made a fair few changes and that gave different players the opportunity to get on the pitch.

“The three young lads came in and we also managed to get Donveron Daniels out there as well after his concussion.”

After back-to-back defeats in separate cup competitions, Moore says he will work hard to rectify his side’s mistakes.

“We weren’t good enough in terms of the standards we set ourselves, we couldn’t get any momentum in the game and it was a difficult night for us.

“Nothing seemed to go for us and that’s no excuse, Leicester performed very well but we didn’t test them enough.

“Now we’ve got a straight look at the league and we need to play a bit of catch up on the teams around us.”
