Sadlier praises Rovers' ruthless streak

Kieran Sadlier felt Rovers were ruthless in front of goal after beating Peterborough United 3-0 on Boxing Day.

The former Posh man netted twice against his old club to secure a crucial three points, and he believes they were good value for the win.

He said: “It gives us great confidence because they score a lot of goals and are a good team but haven’t been able to score any against us.

“We’ve probably played better football in other games and drawn or lost, but against Peterborough we were ruthless in front of goal.

“We nullified their threat very well and that is a hard thing to do with the form they have been on in recent weeks.”

Sadlier has now scored four goals in three games against the Posh since his move to Rovers in January, and says he enjoyed opening the scoring with a 30-yard strike.

He added: “I’ve scored a few like that before, I enjoy shooting from range and fortunately I caught it well and it went in.

“It was a greasy surface so it was worth a go, it was good build up to play me in and then the space was there.

“I used to be at Peterborough and I enjoy playing against them, being in this team I always fancied getting on the scoresheet.”
