Matty Blair says Rovers can take real heart from their performance against Crystal Palace in the Emirates FA Cup.
First-half goals from Jeffrey Schlupp and Max Meyer saw Rovers bow out of the competition at the fifth round stage, but Blair believes they will learn a lot from it.
He said: “We’re very frustrated with the defeat, but it’s been a great journey for us as players and the whole football club.
“We know the quality that the Premier League players have, we probably gave them half a chance early on and they took it.
“We’re a resilient team as we’ve shown all season and we know the quality we have, we still fancied ourselves to get back into the game.”
Blair was selected at right back for the game at the Keepmoat Stadium, and says that shows the faith manager Grant McCann has in him.
He added: “It gets me playing and I took it as a real compliment when the manager picked me at right back because Aaron Lewis has been doing really well.
“When he told me it was a real boost for me because he trusted me there in arguably our biggest game of the season so far.
“It was a great experience and a learning curve because it shows you that if you switch off for half a second against the best teams they will hurt you.”
Rovers will be back at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday March 2, when they welcome fellow promotion contenders Charlton Athletic in Sky Bet League One. Tickets are available online by visiting tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk, over the phone, or by visiting the Club Doncaster Box Office.
