Kieran Sadlier was delighted to get off the mark as his first goal in a Rovers shirt helped to lift Rovers into the Sky Bet League One play-off places.
Sadlier scored the final goal in a 3-1 win over fellow top-six chasers putting the seal on things in an exciting clash at the Keepmoat Stadium, and he was thrilled to break his duck on his league debut.
“Obviously, first of all, I’m pleased for the team that we’ve managed to get a win here, it was my first league appearance for the club and so I’m delighted to have kicked that side of things off with a goal,” he said.
“Strikes like that aren’t something I’ve practised all too often, especially on my weaker foot, but it was a great strike.
“It was against a club that I used to play for as well, so it’s a little bit more special, but it’s a huge win for the team that will help us go a long way so we’re all very happy.”
Sadlier joined Rovers in January from League of Ireland side Cork City after a successful spell in the Emerald Isle, and the forward is now looking forward to kicking on and helping the team in the final play-off push.
“I’ve really come a long way and developed massively during my time with Cork, and it helped me to learn and understand the game a lot more, as well as giving me the opportunity to be more involved around the first-team picture,” he added.
“I’m always looking to get into areas where I can score goals and try and create something for the team, I’ve got the license here to drift about and help out wherever, and I think that’s a really good aspect of our side.
“We have a big period of games coming up and everybody will be needed during that time, we’re all fit, healthy and ready to go, we’ll be ready to go again starting on Tuesday, we’re not getting carried away but we’re all enjoying our football and we’re really looking up.”
