John Marquis says Rovers will try to take the game to Crystal Palace in the Emirates FA Cup fifth round this weekend.

With the game at the Keepmoat Stadium already a sell-out, the No.9 believes Rovers go into it with nothing to fear.

He said: “We can have a really good go at them and see where we’re at, we’re going to give everything to try and win the game.

“Palace are the local team to where I was brought up, I had a trial there when I was younger but got turned down.

“I’ve got a lot of friends coming up who are Palace fans and they’re giving me a bit of stick so it would be nice to score against them.”

Marquis has captained Rovers in their past four games in all competitions, and says he has relished the opportunity to lead by example.

He added: “I’m happy to be captain and whether I’m wearing the armband or not I try to lead the team, the fabric around my arm doesn’t make too much difference.

“There are a lot of leaders and people go about it in different ways, some people are more vocal but throughout the team we have players who take control.

“There are many people that can be captain, it’s been shared around a bit with injury and suspension but between us we’ve made sure we’re level headed and doing well.”

John Marquis will be the main interview in the club's matchday programme DNA. The programme costs £3 and can be purchased at the programme huts which are dotted around the ground.
