John Schofield was pleased to see defender Joe Wright play 60 minutes for the Rovers Development side against Grimsby Town.

Wright continued his recovery from an ankle injury in the 3-0 victory at Cantley Park, and Schofield was impressed with his performance.

He said: “Joe played a good hour and that was to make sure he’s closer to being ready when the manager calls on him.

“He was calm on the ball and showed that bit of quality when we had it at the back so he’s looking good.

“The first team have three home games coming up in a short space of time so he’s got those minutes under his belt.”

The win was Rovers’ second in a row in Central League North, and Schofield has been happy with recent performances.

He added: “As we’ve said before the win is the most important thing but to get minutes into some of the first-team places is positive.

“In games like that we want the lads to focus on what we do, it’s not about who is in the opposition dressing room.”

Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Peterborough United on Saturday February 9. Tickets are available from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
