John Schofield’s Development side will face Sheffield United on February 8 in the penultimate game of the Premier League U21s Cup.

This is the first season Rovers have entered the competition and the side had a difficult start to the campaign, however, they held table-toppers Everton to a draw scoring in their previous match.

“This competition has been excellent for us,” said Schofield.

“It’s brilliant for the young lads, and for the senior players coming back because it provides a good test for them as well.

“We’ve had games against bigger opposition and it’s good for the lads to experience playing against these teams.”

The Development side travel to Sheffield United for their final away game of the tournament.

“I’m a bit disappointed that the games aren’t on their first team pitches,” Schofield added.

“You can take it for granted playing in those big stadiums but it’s a massive learning curve and it’s great for the players."

Rovers' next home game sees them take on Peterborough United on Saturday February 9. Ensure your place at that game by going to
