Rovers Development fell to 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United in the Central League North.
A first half goal from Joe Wright was not enough to secure a point for Rovers as the centre back played his first 90 minutes since picking up an injury in October.
The Blades reserves took the lead within two minutes of kick-off before Wright equalised from close range on the half-hour mark.
The young Rovers side held their own for much of the second half and would have taken the lead late on had it not been for an excellent save from the Sheffield United ‘keeper. The Blades immediately broke and were able to nick a late goal to take all three points.
