Ben Whiteman says there is a lot of belief around the Rovers camp as they prepare to face Peterborough United in Sky Bet League One on Saturday.

Rovers host the Posh at the Keepmoat Stadium knowing that a win can take them into the play-off places with two games in hand over their visitors, though Whiteman believes this game is no more important that any other and the side are fully focused on the task in hand.

“It’s another big game that we have coming up this weekend, but there isn’t one game that’s more important than any others, every game should be treated the same, but we’re going into it fully believing we can get the three points,” he said.

“We controlled the game at their place earlier on in the season, but obviously with the new manager going in there recently, we know it’ll be a totally different game to what we faced and with it being Darren Ferguson, we know his style of play.

“If we can execute the game plan and then get the win, we can take that into the Southend game in mid-week and really push on as we head towards the final run-in, they’re all big games at this stage of the season.”

Whiteman has been ever-present in the Rovers midfield, consolidating his position in Grant McCann’s side with some assured performances during the season, and he credits the freedom the manager has given him to play with as the key to his success so far.

“The gaffer has just told me to carry on playing my game as I have been doing already, I’m a confident person myself and he’s really given me the license to go out every week to perform and play well and I think I’ve done that well so far this season,” he added.

“I think sometimes it’s just luck that I’ve been involved in some of the big moments we’ve had so far, whether it be last-minute winners or going in goal, there seems to be a lot coming off for me this year, you just have to step up to the plate which I have done.

“I’m very pleased on a personal level with how I’m doing, I’m on a good run of form myself at the minute which is good, I just need to keep listening and learning and then really start to kick on even more.”

Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Peterborough United on Saturday February 9. Tickets are available from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
